Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, “Davido” has revealed that he has spent over $3.7 million (5.5 million Naira ) on his wedding to long-term lover, Chioma.
The statement by the Multiple award-winning musician set social media abuzz. While many wished them a successful marriage, a few have raised questions about the lavish spending.
One Favour Victor on X (formerly Twitter) is not happy about how rich Africans spend their wealth.
He wrote: “Africa and their rotten mentality.. people in developed countries, where how much you have doesn’t count, are laughing at us. I pity those id!ots that are getting pressured by these kinds of proud statements.”
Ola Dannis however thinks the musician is just demonstrating how much he loves Chioma. He wrote on the same app saying, “Over 5billon spent in naira. He too love Chioma and I like it.”
Davido revealed the jaw-dropping cost of his white wedding after the Havana Night. The pre-wedding event has since dominated online trends.
Surrounded by friends and family, Davido proudly announced the date for the wedding and the cost involved.
“We spent 3.7 million dollars in cash.You should know what we are doing. It’s crãzy.” Davido touted.
Also, the couple took the centre stage with their respective outfits. Davido wore a white hat, blue suit jacket, white trousers, and Ankara fabric draped over his shoulders, while Chioma dazzled in a short white gown.
